Known Distance Range (KDR) and Qualification Training Range (QTR)

Zieson was selected to provide multiple U.S. Army weapons ranges.

KDR RANGE
The KDR range is a standard design 32 – lane 300 x 1000 meter down range target area. Up range is the range operations control area (ROCA) area.

KDR RANGE OBJECTIVE
The KDR range will provide three primary objectives: fire tight shot groups at a known distance, make sight adjustments at range while experiencing the effects of wind and gravity, and marksmanship testing. The soldiers will be provided information concerning the precise hit – or – miss location of every bullet fired. Soldiers will fire at the 100 – 200 and 300 meter targets.

KDR WORK SCOPE
The KDR project is a Civil (horizontal) and multiple building (vertical) project.
The civil portion of the project includes heavy earthwork approx. 378,000cuyds of cut/fills, extensive storm drainage box culvert systems, design build wet well, water distribution systems, sanitary sewer systems, primary and secondary service feeders, electrical transformer, large modular retaining walls, free span wood foot bridges, landscaping, signage and many other civil components.
The buildings/ROCA area will contain a range control tower, operations/storage building, classroom building, ammunitions breakdown building, latrine, bleacher enclosure, covered mess and building information systems. Foundations are design build and building construction is pre-engineered metal building systems.

QTR RANGE
The QTR range is a standard design 500 x 1500 meter down range target area. Up range is the range operations control area (ROCA) area.

QTR RANGE OBJECTIVE
The QTR range is used to train and test soldiers on skills necessary to detect, identify, engage and defeat stationary and moving infantry and along with stationary/moving armor targets. The range combines the capabilities of a modified record fire range (MRF), automated sniper field fire range, combat pistol firearms qualification course (CPQC) and multipurpose machine gun range (MPMG).

QTR WORK SCOPE
The QTR project is a Civil (horizontal) and multiple building (vertical) project.
The civil portion of the project includes heavy earthwork approx 276,000cuyds of cuts/fills, extensive electrical duct bank, communication/fiber duct bank for operation of targets, electrical feeders, electrical transformer, overhead primary distribution; pre cast concrete target housings, free span wood foot bridges, signage, landscape and many other civil components.

The buildings/ROCA area will contain a range control tower, operations/storage building, classroom building, ammunitions breakdown building, latrine, bleacher enclosure, covered mess and building information systems. Foundations are design build and building construction is pre-engineered metal building systems.

Both ranges will be completed in the fall of 2013.

Pictures to be provided as work progresses.
